Competition

The 1st XV play traditional interschool fixtures against Wanganui Collegiate, Wellington College, St Paul's Collegiate (Quad), Westlake BHS (Quad), Te Aute College (Raukawa trophy), St Patrick's Silverstream, and the Super 8 schools: Napier BHS (Polson Banner), Gisborne BHS, Tauranga BHS (Quad), Hastings BHS, Rotorua BHS, New Plymouth BHS and Hamilton BHS.

The 1st XV and 2nd XV play in the Super 8 competition. All other teams play in the local Manawatu secondary school competition on a Saturday. This competition also involves schools from Horowhenua and Wairarapa. 

Junior students get the opportunity to achieve at the highest level, with the U15 Colts competing in the national colts tournament each year. The Colts B team competes at an annual tournament held in Hastings each year. The third form A side play two traditional schools each year.

  • Practice: Most teams practise at least once a week at various venues in the city. We are well resourced, with a purpose built scrum shed and equipment.

 
 

Success Stories

Of late some of our Old Boys have had success internationally with Jason Eaton capped as an All Black in 2005. At Super 14 level Jason Eaton, Brent Thompson and Lifeimi Mafi have played for the Hurricanes, and Grant Webb the Highlanders. In recent years we have had a number of boys make the New Zealand secondary schools side.
